The Immortal Economist

At 1:43 on September 30th 2023 Bernie joined his friends on the other side, in what he called “the integral flow of forces.” His friend (and co-author) Erin read excerpts from the book “Me and My Beloved Virgin” written by his best friend Guy Benjamin (Benji) from St. John in the USVI.

As she recited the litany of names most beloved to him: Prince, Sewer, James, Coral Bay, Maho, and East End, he was making his way across that vast ocean on his way home.

Erin will continue to post any updates about Bernie’s work. You can look forward to an upcoming book release: “Weaving An Island: The Bernie A. Kemp Collection of St. John Baskets & Folk Art” by Priscilla Hintz Rivera Knight. She anticipates that it will be available by the end of this year.

As was Bernie’s greatest wish, his collection of baskets will be made available to the public on St. John both through this book and eventually within a museum setting on St. John in the US Virgin Islands.

Keep our friend in your heart. And send him off with love.
